What Is DYSPORT® Used For?

DYSPORT® is a prescription-based medicine that contains a neuro-muscular blocker called AbobotulinumtoxinA. It can relieve muscle spasms in various body parts (such as the neck, wrist, calf, or fingers) and can be used to treat cervical dystonia.

However, DYSPORT®is most commonly used for the temporary removal of wrinkles from between the brows or in other parts of the face. DYSPORT® most effectively targets the glabella lines, i.e., the facial muscles between the brows. But it can also:

• Minimize dimples
• Reduce diagonal lines from the sides of the nose
• Create a subtle lift in the eyebrows
• Reduce excessive gum exposure
• Minimize crow’s feet wrinkles

DYSPORT® use cases might appear similar to other botulinum toxin treatments like Botox. Both of these are injectables and inhibit normal muscle contraction, but differences exist between them and we’ll share them in a bit. 

How Long Do Results Last?

Studies have found that the effect of DYSPORT® lasts for three to six months, depending on the skin and muscles it is used on.

DYSPORT® Administration Techniques

DYSPORT® is available as a dry powder in 300- and 500-unit vials. DYSPORT® needs to be reconstituted with 0.9% sodium chloride solution using an aseptic technique before you can inject DYSPORT® intra-muscularly. You should use preservative-free sodium chloride injection.

Here are the steps for reconstitution you should know before you purchase DYSPORT® wholesale:

• Inject 2.5 ml 0.9% sodium chloride solution into the 500-unit vial of DYSPORT® and set aside.
• Draw 2.5 ml of 0.9% sodium chloride in a 5 ml syringe.
• Now draw DYSPORT® from the reconstituted vial
• The solution concentration is now 10 units/0.1 ml
• Inject DYSPORT® immediately into the targeted site

The adult dosage of DYSPORT® for treating glabella lines is:

• 12 units/0.1 ml
• 20 units/0.1 ml

Dose

• 50 units in the form of five equal aliquots of 10 units (0.08 ml each)
• 50 units in the form of five equal aliquots of 10 units (0.05 ml each)

DYSPORT® Side Effects

The common side effects of DYSPORT® are redness, infection, or bruising at the injection site, which usually goes away after a short while. More serious side effects to DYSPORT® treatment are rare and include:

• Dizziness or blurring of vision
• Breathing problems and flu-like symptoms
• Allergic reactions that lead to difficulty in swallowing, itching, rash, hives, swelling of lips and tongue
• Tightness and pain in the chest
• Drooping eyelids or swelling in the eye
• Palpitations
• Loss of bladder control
• Fatigue and numbness

Botox

Xeomin

Xeomin (also sold as Bocouture) is known to have less complex proteins and is composed of incobotulinum toxin type A. It has a slower onset of action than DYSPORT® and fewer side effects due to simpler proteins.
