The generic name of this medication is follicle stimulating hormone. The pen is available under the brand name Gonal-f Pen. It belongs to the class of medications called Gonadotropin. Gonal-F 300 IU Injectable Pen Uses
Gonal-F 300 U injectable pen contains the active ingredient follitropin alpha, a synthetic version of the naturally occurring hormone – follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) that helps in the development of egg cells in the ovaries. The drug is supplied in a prefilled pen containing 22 mcg/0.5 mL solution for subcutaneous injection. Each pack contains 1 prefilled pen and 5 needles. This medication is used for the treatment of infertility in women who cannot ovulate, provided the cause of infertility is not due to primary ovarian failure. It can also be used to stimulate sperm production in men.
Gonal-F 300 IU Injectable Pen Interactions
Follitropin alpha is injected subcutaneously (under the skin) or intramuscularly (into the muscle). You can choose to inject the medication on your own after learning the proper way of giving the injection and disposing of used needles and syringes. Gonal-F is not effective in women with primary ovarian failure and men with primary testicular failure. This drug is contraindicated in patients with undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, ovarian cysts, and uncontrolled disorder of the thyroid, adrenal, and pituitary glands, as well as cancer of the breast, uterus, ovaries, and testicles.
