Juvederm is one of the best-selling hyaluronic acid filler brands in the United States. It has several products in its family, with each of them having a specific function.

Restylane Lyft, a dermal filler, typically comes as a premixed solution with 0.3% lidocaine, a local anesthetic agent. It is a sterile gel comprised largely of hyaluronic acid (HA) that is derived by a specialized process from the Streptococcus species of bacteria. The HA is cross-linked with 1.4-butanediol diglycidyl ether (BDDE), having a concentration of 20 mg/ml.

What areas are these fillers used for?

Restylane Lyft is often used for implantation into the deep dermis to the superficial subcutis for the correction of moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles. A very common indication is the treatment of volume loss in the midface area. Additionally, Restylane Lyft can also be used for subcutaneous to supraperiosteal implantation for augmentation of cheek volume and for the correction of age-related mid-face volume or contour deficiencies. Finally, Restylane Lyft is used by doctors for implantation at the subcutaneous level in the dorsum of the hands to rectify volume deficit.

Different formulations in the Juvederm range are used for different purposes, such lifting the cheeks, smoothening out wrinkles, treating vertical lip lines, or even plumping up the lips. Juvederm Vollure XC and Juvederm XC act to soften any moderate to severe parentheses lines and wrinkles by adding volume around the regions of the nose and mouth. Juvederm Voluma XC, which is comparable to Restylane Lyft, adds volume to the cheek area to correct any age-related volume loss.

Comparing Restylane Lyft to Juvederm Voluma

In multiple prospective, randomized, blinded, controlled, and split-faced studies, Restylane Lyft consistently showed that it benefits patients longer than Perlane in terms of wrinkle improvement by at least a one point improvement as in the five-step Wrinkle Severity Rating Scale. In simpler terms, Restylane Lyft is proven to result in significantly diminished wrinkles.

The results of this filler are expected to last for about 12 months in the cheeks and up to six months when used to treat facial wrinkles, such as the nasolabial folds.

In a study using Juvederm Voluma XC, 86% of subjects reported at least a one-point improvement in their cheeks six months after treatment, and the same was true for 75% of subjects after two years. The manufacturer also specifies that Juvederm Voluma XC can last up to two years.

Conclusion

The use of Restylane Lyft and Juvederm fillers is supported by evidence specific to them. Furthermore, Restylane Lyft and Juvederm fillers have comparable results. Some Juvederm products can be expected to last slightly longer than Restylane Lyft. Other than the differences in the respective efficacy of these fillers and their particular duration of action, choosing which product to use will come down to the cost of the treatment procedure and the preference of the doctor for your concerns.
