INFORMATION
HYNIDASE® 1500 IU Indications for Use
HYNIDASE® 1500 IU (hyaluronidase) is a powder for solution used in conjunction with other injectable or infusion therapies to aid in the absorption and dispersion of injected fluids and drugs. It works by temporarily breaking down the natural barriers within body tissues, allowing drugs or fluids to spread more easily and be absorbed more effectively.
- Primary uses:
- Enhancing the absorption of other injected fluids or medications.
- Assisting in the reabsorption of excess fluids or blood in tissues.
Hyaluronidase is also useful in treating edema, as it helps the body reabsorb localized fluid buildup.
The usual dose of HYNIDASE® is 1500 International Units (IU). The medication must be dissolved before use and administered by a healthcare professional.
- Preparation: The powder is dissolved in water for injections, normal saline, or in the solution intended for injection.
- Routes of Administration:
- Subcutaneous (under the skin) or intramuscular (into the muscle) injections.
- May also be administered via subcutaneous infusion, injected directly into the infusion tubing for continuous delivery.
Dosage adjustments: Your doctor will determine the correct dosage and administration route based on individual treatment needs.
If a dose is missed or if you think you have been given too much of the drug, it is crucial to inform your doctor or nurse immediately.
HYNIDASE® 1500 IU Side Effects and Precautions
As with any medication, HYNIDASE® may cause side effects. These reactions range from mild to severe, though serious side effects are rare.
- Common Side Effects:
- Local swelling at the injection site.
- Rash, itching, or swelling around the eyes.
- Bruising or soreness at the injection site.
- Severe Side Effects (rare):
- Allergic reactions: In some cases, patients may experience severe allergic responses such as difficulty breathing, rapid pulse, and excessive sweating.
- Anaphylaxis: Very rarely, a severe, life-threatening allergic reaction may occur. Immediate medical attention is required if signs of an allergic reaction arise.
Patients should inform their doctor if they experience any adverse effects. Side effects should be reported to local authorities for medication safety monitoring.
HYNIDASE® 1500 IU Precautions:
- Allergies: Do not use if you are allergic to hyaluronidase.
- Infection or malignancy: Do not inject the medication into areas where there is a present infection or cancerous growth.
- Avoid in pregnancy: Use caution during pregnancy or breastfeeding. It is crucial to inform your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant before treatment.
Contraindications:
- Should not be used to reduce swelling from bites or stings.
- Should not be administered directly onto the eye or intravenously.
- Alpha agonist drugs: Avoid use in conjunction with dopamine or other alpha agonist medications, as hyaluronidase may affect their dispersion.
HYNIDASE® 1500 IU Clinical Studies or Real-World Outcomes
The clinical efficacy of HYNIDASE® has been demonstrated in various settings where it enhances the dispersion and absorption of injected substances. It facilitates better therapeutic outcomes in procedures involving localized fluid buildup or where drug distribution is crucial for effectiveness.
- Positive outcomes: Faster absorption of injected fluids or medications, particularly when treating edema or enhancing the effect of other injectable therapies.
- Reabsorption of fluids: Particularly useful in cases of excess fluid retention, where the body needs assistance reabsorbing fluids.
Drug Interactions
Certain drugs should not be used in combination with HYNIDASE® due to the risk of altered absorption and dispersion.
- Dopamine and alpha agonists: Avoid use with medications such as dopamine or clonidine, as hyaluronidase may affect the absorption and effectiveness of these drugs.
Patients should inform their doctor of any medications they are currently taking, including prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal products.
HYNIDASE® 1500 IU Administration and Usage Guidelines
HYNIDASE® must be prepared and administered by a healthcare professional using proper techniques to avoid contamination or adverse effects.
- Reconstitution: The powder should be dissolved in sterile water, normal saline, or another appropriate solution before injection.
- Injection process:
- Subcutaneous or intramuscular injection: The drug is typically injected under the skin or into muscle tissue.
- Subcutaneous infusion: The drug can also be injected into the tubing of an infusion set for continuous delivery.
After preparation, the injection must be administered immediately. Any remaining solution must be discarded.
